How to Format My Nokia N97

If you test every game and every new application on your mobile, you will/have face(ed) a situation where you need to reset your device to make it as new as it was when you bought it. Reset a s60v3 mobile is easy if you know the reset code, but resetting new touch mobiles like N97 and 5800 which don’t have physical keyboards seems very difficult if you don’t know the procedure.
If you are new to S60 life, you can read this article ( Some Common Tips & Tricks ) to know some important tips and tricks for your mobile including how to reset (soft, hard etc) S60v3 mobiles.

The first two methods are standard for all symbian mobile phones, but the third one is only for touch mobiles.

1. Soft Reset/Normal Reset: With this method, the mobile setting are restored to factory settings. But it does not remove applications, games or anything installed. To do this reset press *#7780#.
2. Deep Reset: It is the most common way to reset your mobile. It will erase all the bugs and errors in your phone including all installed applications and games on your phone memory. *#7370#
3. Hard Reset/Format: If due to any problem you are not able to go to the screen of your mobile to enter the above mentioned codes, then you will have to do the hard reset or to format it. Symbian S60v3 and S60v5 mobiles have different method for reset but N97 and 5800 have different.
1. To reset the mobiles other than N97 and 5800, keep pressed the following three keys on your mobile keypad and restart your phone while still pressed these keys. * + 3 + Call button (green button).
2. For Nokia 5800 XM: In this case, press the keys at once Red (End) + Green (call) + Photocamera Button and hold and switch on the mobile.
3. For Nokia N97: Press both Shift keys + space bar and BackShift, hold, turn on the phone.

10 Facebook Tips for Power Users

Thought you knew everything about Facebook, didn’t you? Here is how to take your Facebook account to the next level.

So you signed up for Facebook, added friends and photos, joined a few groups, and updated your profile status. But now what? Isn't there more to Facebook? There is.

Here are 10 tips to tweak your profile and get more out of Facebook. These tips go beyond the typical and include ways to stay better connected to your friends and look good doing it. To compile this list, I searched high and low and even called on Facebook for the best tips. Most are easy to do and all will add some Facebook pizzazz to your profile.

Tip 1

Dig up demographic dirt on your friends with Socialistics: If you want to know the demographic breakdown on your Facebook universe of friends, this application does a nice job at breaking it down. Socialistics can show you information about your friends' ages, the languages they speak, their country of origin and lots of other interesting information all within Facebook.

Socialistics data do not show up on your profile pages and you are not able to share Socialistics information with your Facebook Friends through your Wall. However, if you want to take a look at the trends for your personal network, then add Socialistics to your profile and you can access it privately.

Tip 2

Power search tips: Just like Google and other search engines, Facebook has some built-in power search tools and terms to help you find people. Want to search your Facebook network or friends list, but you want to narrow the results to fall within an age range? Just enter a term using the "name," "y1" and "y2" search filters. For example, I wanted to find my buddy Colin from college, but I can’t remember how old he is. To find him, I just entered in “name: Colin Bauer y1: 25 y2: 40” and voilà! The search string asked Facebook to look for people named Colin Bauer between the ages of 25 and 40.

You can also use two search terms at once by dividing the terms with the "pipe character" (|), which pipe is found on the same key as the backslash.

If you want people to find you easily when they search, fill out your profile as much as you can. That way your profile interests -- music, books, movies and so on -- will move you closer to the top of Facebook search results for those keywords. Check out Facebook's help page for more handy search terms.

Tip 3

Integrate Facebook information with Gmail: The Firefox add-on called Xoopit is designed to streamline browsing and sharing of files, photos and videos with friends on other social networks via Google's Gmail service. One of Xoopit's handy features (seldom touted) lets you see who among your e-mail contacts is a Facebook member and displays their profile photos and status updates. The Xoopit add-on also lets you update your status inside Gmail via a nifty little Xoopit box that integrates into the Gmail interface.

Tip 4

Personalize your Facebook URL: SocialToo allows you to create a custom domain for your Facebook profile page such as username.socialtoo.com. This allows you to share your Facebook site with other people without requiring them to search for you on Facebook to find your profile. Granted, you might have to explain to your friends that even though Facebook.com isn't in the Web address, it still takes you to your Facebook page. The domain is much easier to remember than an eight-digit profile ID.

Signing up with SocialToo is quick and free. You can set up your Facebook settings under “preferences” on SocialToo’s Web site. Just remember to choose your SocialToo username wisely.

Another way to create a custom domain for your Facebook page is go to your profile page in Facebook and copy the Web address that appears in your browser's address bar. Then head over to Tiny.cc. Now paste your Facebook profile Web address in Tiny.cc's "Enter a long URL you want to make tiny" form field. Directly to the right you'll see a Custom option. Here you can create a custom URL that follows the convention http://tiny.cc/username.

How to Make Your Computer Boot Faster

Why can’t a computers start up like a television? In short, it is all about the operating system. And contrary to common sense, the newer the operating system the longer it can take. But you can do something about it. Here are tips to get your tortoiselike boot time to hop like a bunny.

Why can’t a computer be more like a television? When you push the power button on a TV, it just turns on. Computers, on the other hand, boot — as in, they take so long to get started that you want to stick your boot into them.

You would think that the march of technological progress would have reduced boot times over the years, but newer operating systems can take longer — Microsoft Vista actually tends to boot more slowly than its predecessor, Windows XP. (Microsoft claims its next-generation operating system, Windows 7, should provide drastic improvements in boot time.)

Additionally, boot times increase with a computer’s age. As you use your PC and more programs and devices are installed, the startup process gets even longer. And these slow boot times can lead to bad behavior. Many users become so frustrated that they leave their computers on constantly, wasting electricity and delaying valuable OS security updates.

But take heart: There are steps you can take to speed things along. Depending on the configuration of your computer, many of the various system checks and processes that take place during boot-up may be unnecessary or irrelevant to you. A variety of tricks of varying sophistication can reclaim valuable minutes or seconds of get-up-and-go time. We tested expert tactics on three well-used computers in PM’s tech lab.

Ditch dusty programs

As a general rule, an uncluttered computer is a fast computer. The easiest step to speed startup is to remove software that you no longer use. Many of these seemingly fallow programs are running active background processes that launch every time you push the power button. This doesn’t just slow down your startup, it chews up RAM and drags down the overall performance of your PC.

To get a full list of installed software, check Control Panel in Vista and select Remove Programs (in XP go to Add/Remove Programs). If you find programs that you’re not using or that support equipment you no longer own, eliminate them.

One of our test computers, a 3-year-old XP machine, had more than two dozen programs that hadn’t been used in years. After we removed them, the machine’s boot time was reduced from 2 minutes 45 seconds to 2 minutes 21 seconds. Across all three of our computers, the biggest offender was AIM instant-messaging software. Removing it shaved an average of 8 seconds off boot time.

How to Setup GMAIL

Outlook 2007
To set up your Outlook 2007 client to work with Google Mail:

1. Open Outlook.
2. For new setups, select 'Do not upgrade'.
3. Select 'Yes'.'
4. Enter display name, email address (including '@googlemail.com') and password.
5. Click 'Manually configure...'
6. Select 'Internet Email'.
7. Settings: name, full email address (including '@googlemail.com')

• Select IMAP; use given incoming/outgoing servers.
• Username should be full Google Mail address, including '@googlemail.com'.
• After this screen, clicking 'Next' takes you to the end of the setup.

1. Select Tools > Options > Mail Setup. Under 'Email Accounts', click 'Email Accounts'. Select account and click 'Change' above the list of accounts. Click 'More Settings', then the 'Advanced' tab. o Incoming server must be 993 and must use SSL encryption.

• Outgoing server can use 587, TLS encryption.
• Click 'OK' > 'Next' > 'Finish' > 'Close' > 'OK'.

To set up your Thunderbird client to work with Google Mail:

1. Enable IMAP in your Google Mail account.
2. Open Thunderbird and select Tools > Account Settings.
3. Click Add Account.
4. Select the Email account radio button and click Next. The Identity screen appears.
5. Enter your full name in the Your Name field. Enter your full Google Mail email address (username@googlemail.com) in the Email Address field and click Next.
6. Select IMAP as the type of incoming server you are using. Enter imap.googlemail.com in the Incoming Server field.
7. Set the Outgoing Server to smtp.googlemail.com and click Next.
8. Enter your Google Mail username (including @googlemail.com) in the Incoming Username and Outgoing Username fields and click Next.
9. Enter a name for your email account in the Account Name field and click Next.
10. Verify your account information in the dialogue box and click Finish.
11. Select Server Settings from the folder list below your new account.
12. Update the Port value to 993.
13. In the Security Settings section, select SSL from the Use secure connection options.
14. Select Check for messages at startup and Automatically download new messages
15. Click Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the folder list
16. Select the smtp.googlemail.com (Default) entry from the list and click Edit. The SMTP Server page appears.
17. Enter smtp.googlemail.com as the Server Name and set the Port to 587.
18. Select Username and password and enter your Google Mail username (including @googlemail.com) in the Username field.
19. Select TLS from the Use secure connection radio buttons and click OK.
20. Click OK to save your changes and exit the Account Settings dialogue.
    

• Did you click 'Save Changes' after enabling IMAP in Google Mail? To ensure that Google Mail can communicate with your mail client, make sure that you click Save Changes on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP settings tab.

(In following examples, we will substitute the name “Ted” as the System Administrator)

Make sure to save all your MP3 files on your network drive. No sense in wasting valuable space on your local drive! Plus, Ted loves browsing through 100+ GB of music files while he backs up the servers.

Play with all the wires you can find. If you can’t find enough, open something up to expose them. After you have finished, and nothing works anymore, put it all back together and call Ted. Deny that you touched anything and that it was working perfectly only five minutes ago. Ted just loves a good mystery. For added effect you can keep looking over his shoulder and ask what each wire is for.

Never write down error messages. Just click OK, or restart your computer. Ted likes to guess what the error message was.

When talking about your computer, use terms like “Thingy” and “Big Connector.”

If you get an EXE file in an email attachment, open it immediately. Ted likes to make sure the anti-virus software is working properly.

When Ted says he coming right over, log out and go for coffee. It’s no problem for him to remember your password.

When you call Ted to have your computer moved, be sure to leave it buried under a year-old pile of postcards, baby pictures, stuffed animals, dried flowers, unpaid bills, bowling trophies and Popsicle sticks. Ted doesn’t have a life, and he finds it deeply moving to catch a glimpse of yours.

When Ted sends you an email marked as “Highly Important” or “Action Required”, delete it at once. He’s probably just testing some new-fangled email software.

When Ted’s eating lunch at his desk or in the lunchroom, walk right in, grab a few of his fries, then spill your guts and expect him to respond immediately. Ted lives to serve, and he’s always ready to think about fixing computers, especially yours.

When Ted’s at the water cooler or outside taking a breath of fresh air, find him and ask him a computer question. The only reason he takes breaks at all is to ferret out all those employees who don’t have email or a telephone.

Send urgent email ALL IN UPPERCASE. The mail server picks it up and flags it as a rush delivery.

When the photocopier doesn’t work, call Ted. There’s electronics in it, so it should be right up his alley.

When you’re getting a NO DIAL TONE message at your home computer, call Ted. He enjoys fixing telephone problems from remote locations. Especially on weekends.

When something goes wrong with your home PC, dump it on Ted’s chair the next morning with no name, no phone number, and no description of the problem. Ted just loves a good mystery.

When you have Ted on the phone walking you through changing a setting on your PC, read the newspaper. Ted doesn’t actually mean for you to DO anything. He just loves to hear himself talk.

When your company offers training on an upcoming OS upgrade, don’t bother to sign up. Ted will be there to hold your hand when the time comes.

When the printer won’t print, re-send the job 20 times in rapid succession. That should do the trick.

When the printer still won’t print after 20 tries, send the job to all the printers in the office. One of them is bound to work.

Don’t use online help. Online help is for wimps.

Don’t read the operator’s manual. Manuals are for wussies.

If you’re taking night classes in computer science, feel free to demonstrate your fledgling expertise by updating the network drivers for you and all your co-workers. Ted will be grateful for the overtime when he has to stay until 2:30am fixing all of them.

When Ted’s fixing your computer at a quarter past one, eat your Whopper with cheese in his face. He functions better
when he’s slightly dizzy from hunger.

When Ted asks you whether you’ve installed any new software on your computer, LIE. It’s no one else’s business what you’ve got on your computer.

If the mouse cable keeps knocking down the framed picture of your dog, lift the monitor and stuff the cable under it. Those skinny Mouse cables were designed to have 55 lbs. of computer monitor crushing them.

If the space bar on your keyboard doesn’t work, blame Ted for not upgrading it sooner. Hell, it’s not your fault there’s a half pound of pizza crust crumbs, nail clippings, and big sticky drops of Mountain Dew under the keys.

When you get the message saying “Are you sure?”, click the “Yes” button as fast as you can. Hell, if you weren’t sure, you wouldn’t be doing it, would you?

Feel perfectly free to say things like “I don’t know nothing about that boneheaded computer crap.” It never bothers Ted to hear his area of professional expertise referred to as boneheaded crap.

Don’t even think of breaking large print jobs down into smaller chunks. God forbid somebody else should sneak a one-page job in between your 500-page Word document.

When you send that 500-page document to the printer, don’t bother to check if the printer has enough paper. That’s Ted’s job.

When Ted calls you 30 minutes later and tells you that the printer printed 24 pages of your 500-page document before it ran out of paper, and there are now nine other jobs in the queue behind yours, ask him why he didn’t bother to add more paper.

When you receive a 130 MB movie file, send it to everyone as a high-priority mail attachment. Ted’s provided plenty of disk space and processor capacity on the new mail server for just those kinds of important things.

When you bump into Ted in the grocery store on a Sunday afternoon, ask him computer questions. He works 24/7, and is always thinking about computers, even when he’s at super-market buying toilet paper and doggie treats.

If your son is a student in computer science, have him come in on the weekends and do his projects on your office computer. Ted will be there for you when your son’s illegal copy of Visual Basic 6.0 makes the Access database keel over and die.

When you bring Ted your own “no-name” brand PC to repair for free at the office, tell him how urgently he needs to fix it so you can get back to playing EverQuest. He’ll get on it right away, because everyone knows he doesn’t do anything all day except surf the Internet.

Don’t ever thank Ted. He loves fixing everything AND getting paid for it!

1. Bateri
Elakkan daripada penggunaan bateri.
Komputer lebih sejuk tanpa haba dari bateri.
Jika bateri sudah habis dicas, digalakkan menggunakan kuasa dari adaptor.
Pastikan bateri berada di bawah 10 peratus sebelum dicas semula.
Jika terlalu kerap dicas, bateri akan kehilangan keupayaan menyimpan tenaga di bawah 50 peratus.

2. Papan Kekunci
Letakkan sekeping kertas A4 untuk papan kekunci setiap kali tidak menggunakannya untuk menghindarkan papan kekunci dimasuki habuk.
Sesekali lapkan papan kekunci dengan perlahan-lahan. Jangan terlalu kasar untuk mengelakkan butang kekunci rosak.
Kalau boleh gunakan papan kekunci dan tetikus berasingan supaya kita tidak terlalu kerap menggunakan papan kekunci di komputer riba.

3. Skrin LCD
Lapkan ia selalu kerana mudah dimasuki habuk.
Gunakan screen saver.
Power management setkan pada 'Turn Off monitor in ... minutes'.
Elakkan menyentuh skrin dengan jari kerana kesan jari yang berminyak menyukarkan untuk pembersihan.
Jangan letakkan jari di skrin kerana boleh menyebabkan 'Dead pixel'.

4. Haba Panas
Pastikan komputer riba anda ada ruang untuk mengeluarkan haba panas.
Perlu diingat komputer riba mempunyai ruang simpanan yang kecil.

5. Surge Protector
Fungsinya sebagai menjaga perisian dan perkakasan daripada rosak.
Disyorkan jenama APC, BELKIN atau TARGUS.
Kelebihan APC - mempunyai bateri simpanan, line protection (tiada elektrik tapi masih boleh dihidupkan lagi) dan mempunyai amaran kehabisan bateri.

Tips:- Ketika meninggalkan laptop dalam kereta cabut bateri laptop dan bawa laptop atau bateri bersama keluar drpd kereta kerana bateri laptop mengeluarkan gelombang yang boleh dikesan oleh alat pengesan khas. Banyak kes kecurian laptop di dalam kereta di mana hanya laptop yang hilang walau pun diletakkan di tempat yang tidak dapat dilihat dari luar. Jangan letakkan laptop berdekatan sumber kuasa elektrik yang besar.

2. Extract the contents of the compressed (ZIP) file to a location of your choice.
3. Execute Process Explorer by double-clicking PROCEXP.EXE.

5.Right-click the malware process, and choose Properties.
6.Check if the value for the Current Directory is the following: %System%
(Note: %System% is the Windows system folder, which is usually C:\Windows\System on Windows 98 and ME, C:\WINNT\System32 on Windows NT and 2000, or C:\Windows\System32 on Windows XP and Server 2003.)
7. If yes, then right-click on the malware process, and click Kill Process Tree.
8. Close Process Explorer.

Removing Autostart Entry from the Registry

3. In the Look In drop-down list, select a drive, then press Enter.
4. Select the file, then open using Notepad.
5. Check if the following lines are present in the file:

Frequent Disconnection is a problem where your connection will get disconnected itself in the interval of 2 seconds to 30 minutes. When it get disconnected, your DSL/Link LED light at your modem will be blinking and in a few minutes it will be stable again as the connection back to normal.
The complication is:
* You will always have to wait for the modem/router to dial back to get the connection.
* The worst case is the connection last no longer than 1 minute. You will not be able to do your works if this happen.
* Sometimes, if you do not notice that you are having this kind of problem, you will suspect that the connection received from your ISP is extremely slow.

The cause of the problem could be from your end or from your ISP (TMnet)end. To check, just follow these troubleshooting steps:

1.Check the SNR ratings in your DSL Parameter

* Login to your modem/router page
* Check under the WAN tab
* Check the local SNR and remote SNR margin. The higher the result,the better your connection goes.

28 and above = Your line is in GOOD condition.
Lower than 12 = WORST. The best solution is to ask for technical test from your ISP (call 100 for TM/STREAMYX) and most of the times, they will do a new wiring for your line.

* As for Attenuation, it should not exceed 48dB

2. Check LAN cable - make sure the network cable is connected properly from your modem to your network card slot.
3. Check telephone line quality - make sure there is no noisy/cracking sound when you pick up the phone.
4. Bypass splitter - do not use the splitter and try the connection.If the connection become stable without the splitter, your splitter might be faulty and you need to get a new one if you still wanna use your phone line.

"Have you ever facing Limited Or No Connectivity problem with your network?
or your network connection gets stuck "Acquiring IP Address"?
Why is it happen and how to fix it?

Limited or No Connectivity is due to assigning problem between IP to your LAN Connection.
By right, your IP should be assign with the 192.168.x.x but it assign an IP which in group 168.x.x.x .
(you can check this by running Run>cmd>ipconfig)

Many user just simply disable the message by untick the "Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity"
check box", this basically would not solve the problem.
Do you understand what does "notify" means? I'm pretty sure the answer is YES.
So,if you untick the "Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity" checkbox, you will get notified
when the problem arise.
But then,if you untick the checkbox,the meaning would be like "Do Not Notify me when this connection has limited or
no connectivity". You will end up wondering that you have fix the problem but it is actually still there.
Am I right or Am I right?

Normally 192.168.1.1 is the IP for your router which is also called the gateway IP.

Just follow the few steps, and try wether it works or not.(The following steps work for the router using 192.168.1.1 IP)

1.Click on Start button>All Programs>Accessories>Communication>Network Connection

2.Right click the Local Area Connection and go to properties.

3.Find the entry called "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and double click it. or highlight it then click on properties.

4.It should be set to "Obtain an IP address automatically", set it to "Use the following IP".

5.In the IP address field type: 192.168.1.xxx (replace xxx with any number between 2 to 255)

I just choose number 8 because 8 is 'ong' mah, so hopefully it bring luck to solve the problem.

Just click on the Subnet mask field and Windows should fill it in automatically.

In the Default gateway field type: 192.168.1.1 (your modem's gateway IP)
The next radio button should already be set to "Use the following DNS server addresses", if not set it.
In the first field type 202.188.0.133 and 202.188.1.5 for the second field.This is TMNet DNS number.

Close both the open windows with OK. wait for a few seconds or you can off the modem about 10 seconds and on it back.
Now see if the computer can connect to the network.

Untuk Windows version lama, tetapi kebanyakan tips dan trick masih boleh digunakan dalam Win XP.

SHORT CUT KEY adalah untuk kerja-kerja pantas atau apabila mouse anda tidak berfungsi.

CUT, COPY, PASTE
Bila anda membuka beberapa aplikasi serentak tekan CTRL + C untuk Copy, CTRL + V untuk Paste, CTRL + X untuk Cut dan bila anda melakukan kesilapan tekan CTRL + Z untuk Undo.

Untuk ke SYSTEM PROPERTIES dengan pantas - Tekan butang Win pada keyboard anda dan hit Pause/Break.

Sekiranya anda hanya ingin restart windows dan bukannya keseluruhan komputer. Tekan kunci shift sambil menekan restart. Kesilapan mengembalikan Caps Lock ke asal bila menaip menyebabkan anda tersasul beberapa perkataan. Anda boleh memasukkan sound untuk memaklumkan anda. Buka Control Panel - 2x klik Accessibility Option - dan pilih Use Toggle Key - OK. Tekan CTRL + HOME untuk ke awal dokumen dan CTRL + END untuk ke akhir dokumen.

Tekan ALT + SPACE + N untuk mengecilkan window, ALT + SPACE + X untuk membesarkan dan ALT + R untuk kembali ke asal. Tekan ALT + F4 menutup window. Untuk memilih semua fail dalam folder, tekan CTRL + A dan untuk melihat pop up menu dengan pantal tekan SHIFT + F10.

Jika anda telah membuka WordPad atau Word 7.0/ 2000 dan ingin membuka fail lain, anda hanya perlu membuka Explorer dan pilih fail teks yang anda mahu buka. Klik fail tersebut dan tanpa lepas gerakan fail tersebut kepada "title bar"WordPad atau Word 7.0 / 2000 Fail tersebut akan terbuka.

Kekunci WIN pada keyboard anda mempunyai beberapa fungsi. Cuba tekan (Hold) kekunci WIN dan tekan e , f , m , r .Tekan CTRL + ESC + P Apa yang anda dapati. Catatkan. Pernahkah anda mendapati garisan berombak bewarna merah dibawah tulisan yang anda taip bila menggunakan Word 97 / Word 2000. Buka Word klik Tool - klik Option - klik Spelling & Grammar dan clik check box 'check spelling as you type' supaya tiada check mark - klik OK Anda boleh menukarkan mana-mana "folder" kepada "toolbar". Hanya dengan sekali klik "folder" tersebut akan dijalankan. Untuk membina "toolbar" anda sendiri: "Right click" pada mana-mana ruangan kosong pada "taskbar". Klik pada "toolbar" dan pilih "new toolbar". Klik pada "folder" anda mahu jadikan sebagai "toolbar" dan klik "OK". Setelah anda selesai membina "toolbar", anda boleh klik dan lepaskan ke mana-mana lokasi pada "desktop".

Bila anda taip perkataan Teh, selepas kekunci enter perkatan tersebut bertukar kepada The. Buka Word - klik Tool - klik Auto Correct. Cari perkataan teh - the didalam scroll box dan klik. Gantikan perkataan the supaya menjadi - teh - teh - klik OK Untuk protect dokumen anda supaya orang lain tidak dapat membukanya / membaiki. Klik Tool - Option - Save. Taipkan password dalam petak 'Password to open' (tidak boleh dibuka tanpa password). Sekiranya anda ingin membenarkan dokumen anda dibuka tetapi tidak membenarkan menyuntingnya, taipkan password dalam petak 'Password to modify' - klik OK Untuk memilih fail secara berturutan dalam Window Explorer - Tekan Shift dan klik fail diatas sekali dan dibawah sekali. Untuk memilih fail bercampur tekan Ctrl dan klik fail-fail tersebut. Mengeluarkan CD dari CD ROM - 2x klik My Computer - klik kanan CD ROM - klik Eject. Untuk mengetahuni setting TCP/IP network - - Start - Run - taip WINIPCFG - klik More Info. dan klik OK.

Anda sering diganggu dengan iklan 'Pop up banner" setiap kali anda memasuki sesuatu laman web..Sekiranya browser anda IE5 / IE4 - Klik Tool - Internet Options - Security - Custom Level - Scripting - Active Scripting - klik disable - OK. Sesetengah Laman Web tidak boleh dilawati sekiranya langkah ini diikuti, termasuk Hotmail. Sekiranya anda berminat dengan sesuatu Image untuk dijadikan wall paper semasa melayari laman web, klik kanan dan klik "Set as Wallpaper" Heret ikon printer ke desktop - Start - Setting - Control Panel - klik dan heret ikon printer keluar - tekan Create Short Cut Here .Sekiranya anda ingin mencetak dengan pantas , buka folder dan heret ke icon tersebut. Pastikan semua hardware (external device) seperti printer, modem, scanner dsb. di "on" kan sabelum anda install Windows. Ini bagi memudahkan Windows mengesan peralatan tersebut semasa proses install berjalan. Bagi anda yang mempunyai 2 hard disk , anda boleh " scandisk " kedua dua serentak dengan menekan SHIFT sambil klik kedua dua drive tersebut. Anda boleh menyemak kelajuan anda melusuri internet dengan menaip "ping" dalam DOS Windows - dan diikuti dengan alamat yang anda semak - contoh - ping www.windows95.com Anda boleh terus menyambung ke Internet dengan pantas - Klik Start - Run - dan taipkan alamat (URL) yang anda ingini - klik OK.

Scandisk digunakan untuk mengesan kerosakan hard disk dan fail anda. Anda hendaklah menggunakannya sekurang-kurangnya 1 minggu sekali. Selepas mengimbas hard disk, anda hendalah menyusun kembali fail anda / program yang berselerak salepas diguna supaya pergerakan komputer anda dapat melakukan aplikasi dengan pantas. Gunakan Disk Defragmenter untuk melakukan kerja ini. - Start \ Program \ Accessories \ System Tool \ dan pilih sama ada Scandisk / Defrag. Fail / dokumen yang anda padam (delete) tidak terus terpadam dari hard disk anda. Ianya akan tersimpan sementara didalam Recycle Bin.. Recycle Bin dan Temporary File dalam Direktori Window\Temp (yang bertanda *tmp atau ~tmp atau *bak ) hendaklah selalu dikosongkan \ dipadam supaya ruang didalam cakera keras anda bertambah. Anda hendaklah selalu mencabut socket telefon ke modem bila anda tidak menggunakan komputer dalam jangka masa beberapa hari. Kilat akan cepat menyambar modem anda melalui wayar telefon walau pun anda menggunakan 'surge protector.' RAM merupakan salah satu diantara faktor yang mempercepatkan proses aplikasi di dalam komputer. Sekiranya komputer anda kekurangan RAM, perisian di dalam komputer akan berjalan atau beroperasi dengan perlahan. Anda perlu tahu cara untuk menggunakan RAM anda dengan sebaik mungkin. Diantara cara untuk menjimatkan RAM anda supaya boleh digunakan oleh program-program yang penting dengan pantas ialah dengan cara membuang segala perisian yang tidak diperlukan yang berada di dalam folder startup. Wallpaper dan Icon yang bertaburan di Desktop juga menggunakan ruang ingatan (memory) yang besar. Cuba setkan kepada none / delete. Untuk menulis surat biasa , gunakan Wordpad . Ms Word hanya digunakan untuk menyediakan kerja kerja yang lebih rumit .Icon yang banyak pada Ms Word juga 'memakan' memori. Anda boleh mengubah kedudukan Taskbar dengan mengheretkannya ke atas , ke bawah ketepi kiri atau kanan.Cuba klik dan heret mengikut kegemaran anda. Juga kalau tidak perlu,cuba disable - kerana ianya memakan memori komputer anda. Shortcuts Internert Explorer 4/5 - Backspace - Laman sabelum., Ctrl +O - Membuka lokasi (Laman Web/Fail) baru. , Ctrl + N - Membuka browser window baru , Tab / Shift+Tab - Link salepas / sebelum dalam laman yang sama. F5-Refresh, F6> Swis untuk alamat/links/browser. F11 - Suis on/off full scrreen/normal.

Sekiranya 'boot sector' diserang virus , langkah yang perlu diambil ialah dengan:-
(a) Buang bateri dari papan litar induk (motherboard).
(b) Discharge CMOS (rujuk manual - jumper setting) dan
(c) Disable Virus Warning Sekiranya terlupa katakunci (password) untuk menjalankan komputer, tanggalkan bateri dari motherboard atau disable jumper setting (disable CMOS RAM) pada mother board (Rujuk manual). Atau cuba tekan (hold) kekunci END dan ON kan komputer untuk reboot. Sub Folder boleh dibuka dengan pantas tanpa membuka Folder. Klik Window Explorer, Tekan Ctrl dan 2x klik sub folder Kebanyakan program / Fail yang dipindah terima (download) dari internet, menggunakan program ZIP. Anda mesti mempunyai program WinZip / ZipCentral untuk unzip fail tersebut sebelum disimpan di hard disk. Program zip ini boleh dipindah terima dari internet dengan percuma. Bila komputer anda kekurangan memory dalam menjalankan sesuatu program, padamkan program yang yang tidak berguna yang beroperasi dibelakang tabir. Untuk mengetahui program yang berjalan dibelakang tabir (background), Tekan Ctrl + Alt dan tekan Del. Klik program yang ingin dipadam dan tekan End Task. Tinggalkan Explorer dan Systray (jangan dipadam) Sekiranya anda mempunyai Homepage, kenapa tidak disimpan Backup fail tersebut di homepage anda?. Ianya lebih selamat daripada floppy disk. Zipkan semua 'back up' fail dan protect dangan password supaya orang lain tidak dapat pindah terima. Upload fail tersebut ke homepage anda. Buatkan link ke fail tersebut untuk anda pindah terima bila anda memerlukannya. Atau anda boleh gunakan file manager untuk download Anda boleh menukar nama Recycle Bin (Win95) - Start \ Run \ Regedit \ Edit\Find \ dalam petak,taipkan Recycle Bin \ klik - find next \ klik default (kanan)\ Edit \ Modify \ Dalam kotak Edit String taipkan - Bakul Sampah. Gunakan Spacebar untuk scroll up web page di Internet dan Shift + Spacebar untuk scroll down. Bila anda install sesuatu program-saperti Office 97, satu directory Mscreate akan terhasil. Sekiranya dir ini terpadam (delete),maka anda tidak boleh Setup / Uninstall program tersebut dikemudian hari kerana Setup/Uninstall akan mencari fail tersebut. Sekiranya anda menggunakan IExplorer 4 / 5,anda boleh menutup browser window/My Computer atauWin Explorer dengan menekan Ctrl+W Sekiranya anda ingin membuang URL yang tersimpan dalam Internet Explorer5 bila anda membuka File - Open , anda hendaklah edit Registry saperti berikut: Klik Start \ Run \ taipkan regedit \ OK dan klik tanda + HKEY CURRENT USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ TypedURLs.Anda akan dapati senarai URL disabelah kanan.Klik URL teratas sekali,tekan Shift dan klik URL terbawah sekali dan tekan Delete. Jangan delete Default value. Bila anda menaip / membuat kerja kerja sementara,ada kalanya anda tidak akan menyimpannya didalam My Document kerana ianya akan membuatkan anda terlupa.Kenapa tidak anda simpan kerja anda itu ditempat yang mudah anda lihat setiap kali anda membuka komputer anda? Klik Save As dan bila keluar kekotak save,klik Desktop (sebelah kanan kekotak) dan klik Save. Windows akan melakukan Scandisk secara automatik sekiranya anda menutup komputer anda dengan cara yang tidak betul.Ini menggangu masa menunggu anda.....Klik Start - Programs - Accesories - System Tool - System Information - Tool - System Configuration Utility - General Tab - Advance - dan buang check mark pada "Disable ScanDisk after bad shutdown". Sekiranya anda mempunyai program EMail saperti Eudora atau Pegasus Mail, anda boleh menghantar EMail dengan pantas . Klik Run - dan taipkan "mailto: EMAILADDRESS". dimana EMAILADDRESS ialah alamat EMail penerima dan tekan OK - Contoh - "mail:to:ali@tm.net.my".Anda juga boleh menghantar EMail melalui DOS.Pada Dos prompt, taipkan "start mailto:ali@tm.net.my" dan tekan Enter. Malas menaip nama fail yang panjang pada Dos prompt?.Klik Icon Ms Dos prompt dan klik Explorer.Heret fail yang ingin ditaip dari Explorer ke Ms Dos prompt dan lepaskan.....(Begitu juga sub directory / path) Anda boleh Boot komputer anda ke MENU selain daripada cara biasa.Tekan Ctrl key dan bootkan komputer anda. Bagaimanakah anda melingungi diri dari Virus saperti Melissa, Worm, ExploreZip and the Love Bug yang menyelinap di dalam attachment EMail yang dihantar. Anda tidak memerlukan apa apa program anti virus untuk menghalangnya. Hanya yang anda perlukan ialah ....don't open attachments sent by people you don't know - Jangan membuka Attachments tersebut sekiranya pengirimnya anda tidak kenali. Anda boleh menyusun Start Menu Mengikut Alphabet - Klik kanan dan pilih "Sort by name". Anda boleh juga mengubahnya dengan mengedit registry _ 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder'. Padamkan 'MenuOrder' key, dan close Registry Editor.

Anda boleh menukar font yang digunakan dalam Explorer dengan Klik desktop / Properties / Appearance dan pilih Icon dalam senarai pilihan dan klik saiznya. Untuk melihat file yang tersembunyi saperti MSDOS.SYS - Klik My Computer / View Menu / Option dan klik 'Show all files' dan klik OK.

Anda boleh menyalin Windows98 kedalam HDisk yang baru dengan menyambung kedua-dua HDisk tersebut pada ide yang sama.Tukarkan jumper setting HD baru kepada Slave dan yang lama kepada Master.Pada DOS promp,taipkan FORMAT d: /U /S ( d ialah hdisk baru).Kemudian salin semua fail dan folder dari root directory Hdisk lama kepada root directory Hdisk baru.Tentukan fail fail yang tersorok disalin sama terutamanya C:\MSDOS.SYS. (MSDOS.SYS pada hdisk baru diganti dengan MSDOS.SYS lama) Langkah ini hendaklah dijalankan bila opersasi Win98 dihidupkan.Jangan salin swap file ( WIN386.SWP) kerana ia merupakan langkah yang sia sia.
